Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-LA), Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), Rep. Bobby Scott (D-VA), and Rep. Tom Rooney (R-FL) introduced H.R. 3399, the Solitary Confinement Study and Reform Act of 2015, a bipartisan bill to dramatically reform the practice of solitary confinement in the United States federal prison system. This legislation would start a national conversation on the use of solitary confinement and move toward a more rational and fiscally responsible approach to incarceration.

Rep. Cedric Richmond (LA-02), today announced the availability of $15 million in Homeland Security grants for Louisiana. This funding is provided through the FY 2015 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency and will go toward various projects throughout the state. This includes over $200K to the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (NORTA) and $4.8M to New Orleans Port Area entities, an increase of more than $300K compared to last year.
