Councilman Gray and Congressman Richmond Request Additional Resources to Ease I-10 Highrise Traffic

NEW ORLEANS – Today, New Orleans Councilmember James Gray (District E) and Rep. Cedric Richmond (LA-02) released the following statement after sending a letter to Governor John Bel Edwards, Department of Transportation & Development Secretary Shawn Wilson, Mayor Mitch Landrieu, and Sheriff Marlin Gusman requesting state and local law enforcement support to help ease traffic associated with emergency repairs on the Interstate 10 Highrise:

"However, we do ask that your agencies increase coordination and provide the necessary assets to ease the flow of traffic on the immediate Interstate 10 arteries that are being overwhelmed due to the change in traffic on the Highrise," said Councilman Gray and Congressman Richmond.  "More specifically, we are requesting State Troopers, New Orleans Police Department Officers and Sheriff’s Office Deputies to control and expedite traffic on the other arteries leading to New Orleans East, including the Lakefront entrance and Chef Menteur Highway."
