Rep. Richmond Announces More Than $11M in Flood Recovery Grants

WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Cedric Richmond (LA-02) announced the availability of more than $11 million in federal funding for flood recovery projects throughout Louisiana. The resources will go towards repairing schools, reimbursing school districts, and replacing vehicles that were damaged in the August flooding:

 

“I am pleased to announce additional federal funding to help in our recovery process,” said Rep. Richmond.  “These new resources from FEMA will help schools repair damage caused by flood waters and begin the process of making school districts whole. There is still much work to do and I will continue to ensure that the federal government lives up to its responsibility.”

 

FEMA grants announced today include:

 

CITY OF BATON ROUGE
The award provides $1,755,245.70 in federal funding to Baton Rouge for efforts associated with replacing flood damaged vehicles as a result of Louisiana Severe Storms and Flooding.

 

ASCENSION PARISH SCHOOL BOARD
The award provides $3,529,608.17 in federal funding to the Ascension Parish School Board, for remediation activities at St Amant High School as a result of Louisiana Severe Storms and Flooding.

 

CENTRAL COMMUNITY SCHOOL SYSTEM
This award provides $2,822,869.49 in federal funding to Central Community School System (CCSS), for the permanent repairs required for Tanglewood Elementary, which withstood approx. 24 inches of flooding as a result of Severe Storms and Flooding.

          

EAST BATON ROUGE SCHOOL BOARD
This award provides approximately $1,214,695.23 in federal funding to East Baton Rouge School Board (EBRSB), for the environmental remediation required for Park Forest Elementary School (PFES), which withstood approximately 32 to 38 inches of flood waters inches of flooding as a result of Severe Storms and Flooding.

 

EAST BATON ROUGE SCHOOL BOARD
This award provides approximately $2,177,133.53 in federal funding to East Baton Rouge School Board (EBRSB), for remediation required for Park Forest Middle School, which withstood approximately 2.5 ft. of flood waters inches of flooding as a result of Severe Storms and Flooding.
