Rep. Richmond Announces More Than $1.4M in FEMA Grants to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office
WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Cedric Richmond (LA-02) announced the availability of more than $1.4 million in federal funding to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office. The funds will go towards replacing sheriff’s vehicles and other equipment damaged in the August flooding:
“I am pleased to announce the availability of additional federal funds to address some of the immediate needs of the Sheriff’s Office,” said Rep. Richmond. “While more resources are necessary, this grant is welcome help. I have requested additional resources from Congress and the Administration, so that the office can be made whole, and that it is fully equipped to serve the people of Baton Rouge. I will continue to work with my federal partners to secure the additional funding and hold them to their commitment to support our recovery.”

The award provides $1,456,465.74 in federal funding to East Baton Rouge Parish, associated with replacing sheriff’s vehicles and other equipment associated with the vehicles, deputies equipment, firearm equipment, and uniforms which were damaged beyond repair as a result of damages withstood during severe storms and flooding.
