Rep. Richmond Announces More Than $4.9 Million in Additional FEMA Grants for the East Baton Rouge School Board

WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Cedric Richmond (LA-02) announced the availability of more than $4.9 million in federal funding for the East Baton Rouge School Board. The funds will go towards temporary modifications and services, and permanent repairs to five buildings on the Glen Oaks High School campus that were damaged in last year’s flooding.

“I am pleased to announce additional federal resources that will continue to help Glen Oaks High School rebuild after the devastating August flooding,” said Rep. Richmond.  “I will continue to fight for federal funding because citizens and communities in Louisiana deserve the resources needed for a full recovery.”

FEMA grants announced today include:

EAST BATON ROUGE SCHOOL BOARD

The award provides $3,394,556.25 in federal funding to East Baton Rouge School Board – Glen Oaks Campus, for (1) modification and repurposing of five of the twenty buildings to provide temporary services, and (2) for leasing of twelve modular portable buildings to provide additional temporary services to their students while they complete permanent repairs to schools that flooded as a result of FEMA-DR-4277-LA (Severe Storms and Flooding). This funding is being provided under the authority of Section 403 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.

EAST BATON ROUGE SCHOOL BOARD

The award provides $1,569,343.21 in federal funding (federal share) to East Baton Rouge School Board, for permanent repairs to five buildings on their Glen Oaks High Schools Campus that flooded as a result of FEMA-DR-4277-LA Severe Storms and Flooding. This funding is being provided under the authority of Section 406 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
