Rep. Richmond Announces Over $15M in Homeland Security Grants for Louisiana

WASHINGTON – Rep. Cedric Richmond (LA-02), today announced the availability of $15 million in Homeland Security grants for Louisiana. This funding is provided through the FY 2015 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency and will go toward various projects throughout the state. This includes over $200K to the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (NORTA) and $4.8M to New Orleans Port Area entities, an increase of more than $300K compared to last year:

“I’m proud of this needed funding to support critical functions throughout our state,” Rep. Richmond said.  “These resources are necessary to better secure our ports and prepare them for any possible disaster. They will also be used to fortify our public transportation infrastructure, protect our urban areas, and support our first responders. It is a priority for me to ensure Louisiana receives all critical funding so that we are better prepared for the future.”
