Rep. Richmond Mourns the Passing of New Orleanian Antoine “Fats” Domino
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Cedric Richmond (LA-02) issued the following statement after the passing of Antoine “Fats” Domino, the lifelong New Orleans musician known as a founding father of rock ‘n’ roll:
“Today, the city of New Orleans and the international community lost one of our favorite sons,” said Rep. Richmond. “Fats Domino’s many musical contributions will live on through generations of musicians to come. A pioneer celebrated on the international stage, Fats Domino never outgrew his beloved New Orleans. We loved him as much as he loved us.”
“Today is truly a day that will go down in New Orleans history forever. Fats Domino was a beloved father, grandfather, and a true example of New Orleans culture personified. He will surely be missed by everyone. My sincere condolences and prayers are with the Domino family.”
