Press Release

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Cedric Richmond (LA-02) released the following statement after learning of the loss of Rev. Joseph Clifford Profit Jr.:

“My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Rev. Joseph Clifford Profit Jr. They, the parishioners of Stronger Hope Baptist Church, and all the citizens of New Orleans have lost a spiritual giant. Rev. Profit was the perfect example of the resilience we often associate with New Orleans. A good and faithful servant, Rev. Profit never let any obstacle, including hurricanes, keep him from serving God’s people and his community. The city and the faith community are better off because Rev. Profit took his role as an educator and mentor to so many young ministers seriously.  Each day, he set out to save and nurture souls for Christ. The successes in the lives of the people he touched are a direct reflection of his stubborn faith and tirelessness.”
