Rep. Richmond Praises Passage of Helping Heroes Fly Act

Washington, D.C. -Today, Congressman Cedric Richmond (LA-02) released the following statement after passage of the Helping Heroes Fly Act which he cosponsored in March with Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02). The bill passed unanimously in the House of Representatives today 413-0:

 “I am extremely pleased with the passage of the Helping Heroes Fly Act. This is a major victory in our efforts to honor our veterans and active duty service men and women who sustained permanent injuries while protecting our country,” said Congressman Cedric Richmond (LA-02) “Today the House of Representatives sent a strong message that we are committed to honoring their sacrifice and will remain dedicated to easing the burden associated with security screening.”

  On March 22, 2013, Rep. Richmond (LA-02), ranking member on the Committee on Homeland Security’s Transportation Security Subcommittee and Rep. Gabbard (HI-02), introduced H.R. 1344, The Helping Heroes Fly Act, which requires TSA to develop and implement protocols to expedite the screening process for our nation’s injured and disabled heroes and to report to Congress on the progress it has made.
